Shadow yoga is a unique style of hatha yoga, firmly grounded in the ancient practices of the early yogins. To learn the set forms takes time, patience and a willing openness. Discovery of the deeper meaning and self-connection the practice has to offer requires dedication and perseverance. In order to begin uncovering the benefits of shadow yoga, and to assess whether it is for you, an initial commitment of six classes is recommended.

Beginners classes are held on Thursdays at the Pt Chevalier Sailing Club 5:45pm -7pm. Once a series of the 'fundamental classes' has been completed, other classes will be open for the student to attend.

If you are new to shadow yoga, an initial private session leading you through the fundamentals is a good introduction. Private sessions are available upon request.

Point Chevalier Sailing Club

Introduction to the Preludes. This class builds on the fundamental ground-work covered in the foundation class. Working with the preparatory sequences, including the dasha chalanam, jiva chalanam, and squats, the preludes will be introduced, and once well prepared, the asanas will follow. This class is open to all students who have completed a 6 week foundation course.

Point Chevalier Sailing Club

This class will introduce the fundamentals of shadow yoga. Taught as a rolling 6 week course, you will learn and work with the preparatory sequences. These include the dasha chalanam and jiva chalanam. The squats and coordination of the hands and feet will also be developed. This class is open to all levels and students new to Shadow Yoga. Please get in touch if you are interested in joining.

Private Yoga

Individual practice sessions offered in your home.

Contact Liv for availability.

If you are interested in deepening your self practice, or have specific needs, private sessions can be helpful. Individually tailored classes, with appropriate steps and guidance given in the privacy of your own home. The best results come with regular practice. Liv offers a personal practice tailored to the individual needs, and brings warmth, humor and a steady hand to her teaching and guidance.

 
VENUE INFORMATION

Venue for Tuesday and Thursday classes is the Point Chevalier Sailing Club, Raymond Reserve, Raymond Street, Point Chevalier, Auckland.  Parking is available in the upper or lower carparks.

Venue for Wednesday morning classes is the Nyima Tashi Buddhist Centre, 717 New North Road, Mount Albert, Auckland 1022. Parking on Selkirk Road or New North Road.

Please bring a yoga mat or blanket, and warm layers during the winter months.
